Badminton Game Scoring System

In a standard badminton game, the points system is structured as follows:

Scoring System:

  1. Total Points to Win:
    • A game is won by the player or team that first scores 21 points.
  2. Winning Margin:
    • A player or team must win by a margin of at least 2 points. For example, if the score reaches 20-20, the game continues until one side gains a 2-point lead (e.g., 22-20, 23-21).
  3. Maximum Points:
    • If the score reaches 29-29, the player or team that scores the next point (30th point) wins the game. The game is capped at 30 points.

Match Format:

  • A standard badminton match is played as a best of 3 games. The first player or team to win 2 games wins the match.

Service and Scoring:

  • In both singles and doubles, points are awarded on every rally, regardless of who served (rally point system).
